Popcorn, the ultimate snack

Some suggested toppings beyond your basic salt and butter:

Garlic powder and Parmesan cheese
Curry Powder and Nutritional Yeast
Saute garlic in oil then pop the popcorn in garlic infused oil
Use garlic chile pepper paste and mix with melted butter for a spicy oil topping
Add ground Kale chips.

Recipe for Kale Chips:
Toss kale in olive oil and salt.  Spread the leaves on a baking sheet and bake until crispy and dry.

  1. I've actually learned how to make kettle corn here! It works best if you have a heavy bottomed sauce pan or pot--the thicker the better to control the heat.
To start you add about two tablespoons of sugar and an equal amount of water. You let the sugar mixture dissolve and then add the oil. I usually add just enough oil to cover the bottom and then add just two corn kernels. These are my test kernels, and when they pop I know the temperature is ideal for popping. Then I add an ample amount of kernels, enough to cover the bottom of the pan, and wait for the popping to begin. The sugar mixture does turn brown, it's essentially burnt or caramelized sugar. When the popping is over, I stir up the popped kernels to cover them in the caramel and then shake on some more sugar and a little salt. Mmmmmmmm.....makes for a great snack
